Here, at Java Dock Cafe, we utilize two roasters. One of them being Anodyne Coffee Roasting Company located in Bayview, Wisconsin. This company has been around for at least a decade, but began excelling as a roaster only a few short years ago. Though, they've been practicing their ability to roast since their beginning.
I remember visiting their old cafe, 'Brewed Awakenings' on Brady Street. This cafe was teeny-tiny, somewhat similar to the layout of our place. However, there was seating off the side of the counter area and part of this space was where the roasting practice was happening. Matt, the owner and roaster of Anodyne was teaching himself to roast a fine cup of joe. He has and continues to roast some beans resulting a marvelous cup of coffee.
We LOVE that Anodyne purchases most of their beans from humane sources and not only that, but they're getting REALLY high quality beans. It's also desirable for me to purchase coffee from another small business. Which is Anodyne. They're staying small and true to their identity of 'roasting in small batches.'
It's charming for me when I can call to place an order and ask the guy who roasted the beans what he recommends and why. We've learned a lot from our friends at Anodyne and will continue to do so. Next time you need some coffee beans, stop by, we'd be glad to share Anodyne's tasty offerrings with you. Ask us about single origin beans, we think they're the best.
P.S. Here's a link to a great documentary about coffee culture in our state and beyond. Anodyne is featured in the program. It's really interesting.......
