Kelly the Farmer, Doll, Culinary Artist, and Kind Soul

Hello my name is Kelly Kiefer.  I suppose I’m a bit strange, but generally well-liked by most people.  I currently own and operate an organic & biodynamic farm in Campbellsport, WI.  I delight in living my life close to the rhythms of the natural world and doing my best to steward the plants, animals and other life on our farm.  I’m very committed to growing the most nutritious and flavorful food for caring people.
I studied sociology at UWM and spent a few years volunteering through AMERICORPS before rediscovering my rural roots and moving back to the country.  Farming & running a business take up most of my time now, but I used to enjoy riding my bike (a 1963 Gitane), yoga, piano, and soap making.  I like reading non-fiction books about different religions and herbs.  If we don’t share those interests however, I like talking about the weather and the packers as well.   Did I mention that I think Wisconsin is the best place on earth?
I have always liked Port Washington, and came here for my braces when I was a teenager.  I have long since stopped caring about having straight teeth and stopped wearing my retainer, so you can’t tell I ever had braces.  I’m also a tea drinker which stains my teeth.  My favorite teas here at Java Dock are the Emerald Lily and the White Peony.
I look forward to my work at the Java Dock because I am encouraged to be myself at work and allowed to use my creative faculties.  It is a supportive work environment with a great customer base.  I know it is work, but it feels like going out to see all my friends for the day.  I really believe that we need more places that are as full of life and serve healthy hand made things with love.
