Coffee and Cranes

Maybe you've heard, felt, seen, that the holiday season is upon us!  It's wonderfuLL.  It's coming fast and it's not going to stop!  Lets enjoy the ride.  Winter in Wisco can be just as lovely as the other seasons.  It's our choice, we can embrace it ( by drinking good coffee in a cozy space) or be bummed that it's cold (in which case, a different climate might be better for you).  It's all perspective.  So, lets bundle up, breath the crisp, clean air and find reasons to celebrate the days.

Here's one:  coffee.  Here's another: origami cranes.  Put 'em together and what do you get?  Ahhhh, our 1st annual, "Coffee and Cranes" event!  This is going to be an ongoing festivity which will start the first weekend in December.  Our goal:  to collectively fold 1000 paper cranes.  No prob?  Right?  Have you ever folded a crane?  It's pretty much a snap, but it takes a bit of time and focus.

We will officially begin folding cranes on Saturday, December 1st; I will be upstairs at the coffee shop each Saturday throughout December, from 9 'til 11 a.m. guiding crane folding workshops.  I urge you to come and fold a crane, drink coffee, and enjoy the holiday spirit.  There is also the possiblity of folding cranes on your own.  We have a few books from the library with directives or maybe you've done this before.  Maybe YOU could teach a friend to fold?

This activity gives us a platform to work together towards a common goal.  It will also create a dreamy quality upstairs with a 1000 paper cranes soaring through the air.  We've purchased the paper, got the space......all you've gotta do is share some time.  Why not?

I ask that the paper is used only for this project.  There is a limited amount of origami paper and we want to fold 1000!  Upon completion of your crane, add it to a ziploc bag and mark a tally on the bag.  Happy folding.

Be well.  Take Good Care.  Drink Good Coffee.

  1. An ancient Japanese legend promises that anyone who folds a thousand origami cranes will be granted a wish by a crane. Some stories believe you are granted eternal good luck, instead of just one wish, such as long life or recovery from illness or injury.
