Thoughts for November

Here's my first thought about this month;  it's insane that it's the eleventh month.  My concept of the movement of time varies from day to day, but it's safe to say, that in retrospect, time ALWAYS moves quickly.  That being said, we're moving right along into the cold and grey months of the year in this region.  These months are also full of holidays....wonder if there's a connection?

I'm gonna suggest some gift ideas for you and your kin.  First up, it's coffee!  If you didn't know and if you did (here's your reminder), we sell coffee by the half or full pound.  We could even do 5 pound quanitities if there was interest.  There are many varieties of coffee to choose from; dark, medium, lite, decaf, and flavor are the main roasts.  There are a bunch of options within each of those categories.  I encourage friends to buy full bean and get a grinder.

So, here's the gift idea; buy some beans and a grinder for you loved one.  AWESOME and affordable.  I personally use 2 types of grinders depending on how I'm brewing my beans; there's the good, old familiar cylndrical electric grinder that you can find at any big-box store for 15 bucks.  I use a version of this when I use my coffee maker.  Then, there are hand-grinders, which I prefer when I'm pressing my coffee or doing a pour over.  It's a more gentle/thoughtful way of grinding the beans.  I'd be tickled to order you a handgrinder from one of our roasters.  Interested?  Lemme know!

Moving right along.  Gift certificates are always a nice offering.  We're staying with the paper certificate.  Any denomination is available.  We could even create a certificate that would buy your friend there favorite drink; individualized in other words.  This is our approach to most of what we do; we wanna do what's best for each and everyone.

More November thoughts!  There's new photography upstairs.  Karen Krainz, a lovely and local Port Washington lady took shots while she roamed around in town and other states.  I think her photos have a dreamy quality to them; they're based in reality, but there's always something (to me) about the shot that makes it other worldly.  Check our her show for the next month!

Soup!  Soup!  Soup!  Kelly and I (Nichole), continue to craft soups each week.  We're having a good time, using good quality ingredients, and offering some nutrient dense bowls.  So far, so good.  We hope you're digging the soups; there's much time and energy put into them.  Loren designed the soup calendar which is available upon request.  Otherwise, give a call to inquire about soup options.

Later this month or in very early December we're going to "adopt" a holiday tree for the upstairs.  We're going to attempt to dress our tree and the entire upstairs with 1000 paper cranes.  There's a Japanese legend which dictates that whomever folds 1000 paper cranes will be granted a wish.  It will be a collective project with a clear objective.  We're doing it for the fun and decor.  Maybe, collectively we'll earn some good graces.

Be well.  Drink Good Coffee.  Take Good Care.
